Fantastic Move and Great Improvement

Archie really turned things around after my father had a disappointing experience two years ago. I think he is someone that cares about his work and he tries to learn from his mistakes to improve the experience. My father needed someone at a short moment's notice and we decided to give Archie another chance. His movers came in and did the job really well. They were different than the ones we had last time. I hope Archie continues to give great services because moving is stressful.

We will be calling on Archie for our next move!

Poor services, non professionnal and non reliable.

A move is a stressful event on its own. After waiting for 90 minutes, we had to call many times to finally get an answer with a new arrival time that they did not respect again. In the end, they arrived over 5h late!! The men were not very careful. They dropped things many times, made a small hole in a wall and broke a 4'x3' frame). I would not recommand this company.

Official company response

Hello Anhthu.I apologize that you apparently had a bad experience. This is the first time I have heard about it,and am surprised since all my staff are experienced and professional movers.Being late sometimes happens in this business due to all kinds of factors,if you never booked your move for the first place in the day, but we always keep in touch with updates. As far as any damage or broken items,Im not sure what you are talking about, since none of my team members or myself were notified,in order to rectify the problem. Thats what would have happened,as we would have taken responsibility. Because I was never contacted at all about any problems with the move, and you are hiding behind some account you set up,I have to take this review as something completely not true.

Horrible Experience.

I will start off by saying that I would never recommend this company to anyone. I was lied to constantly by the owner "Archie" and/or his movers, the movers showed up 3 hours late, the movers took far too long for an apartment move, and a list of other things caused our move to be even more stressful than moving on our own.

We wanted the stress to be removed from moving. We booked a move with "The Transporter" or "Montreal-Small-Moves" and were told that we were the first move of the day at 9-10am. We gave them all of the info about our home but there was never an assessment prior to the move -- should have been a red-flag. We were ready to go but ended up waiting 3 hours for the movers to arrive. I called the owner twice and was told that his movers were "working." Why were they working if we were supposed to be the first move of the day? When the movers finally arrived at 1:30pm they told us that they had been working since 8am. We were not the first move of the day as promised by the fast-talking owner "Archie."

The move then proceeded to take 10 hours. We live in apartment.. not a house. We were fully packed. I was told by "Archie" that the bed would be moved first followed by the appliances. But the movers did not follow that regime. They seemed to move objects without much rhyme or reason. Therefore, they ended up doing two loads instead of one -- which could have been possible. Our movers were clearly overworked and told us they had to go to another job that would probably end at 3am. We felt bad for the workers if this was true -- overworking your movers only lines Archie's pockets.

Completely dissatisfied with our move, we contacted the company. Upon our first call with Archie he denied his company ever moved us. Our second call, he admitted to moving us but said that we were indeed the first move of the day. He said he let his workers sleep in prior to our move because they had worked late the night before and that is why they were 3 hours late. This is baffling to me as Archie had said, on the morning of the move, that they were working. Even if he wasn't lying, not notifying your client that the movers will be 3 hours late, because they are sleeping, is ridiculous to me.

An apartment move should not take 10 hours, and he did seem to agree that there was something 'off' with the way his movers moved our apartment. But he said he would have to assess the old apartment and our new apartment to see if 10 hours was reasonable or not.. Should that assessment not have been done BEFORE the move? Not retroactively.

Now, he is not returning our calls. Is not trying to fix the situation.

I don't know who lied/is lying to us but I don't care. Do not lie to you customers. Communicate and be honest. It's incredibly simple. They are neither communicative or honest.

When we booked he kept reassuring me that his company is the best in the business. That couldn't be farther from the truth. DO NOT move with Montreal-small-moves aka The Transporter. If you have to pay the exorbitant amount that they charged us, better off going with a company who will respect their customers and take the time to do it right and be honest.

Damages made and never Repaid.

I was a long-time client of Archie the Transporter (Montreal Small Moves). I hired them several times and referred them to friends.

I hired them this time to move my art studio, including sculptures and fragile audio equipment. I paid over $300 for the job.
One of the movers was careless, dropping things. I noticed several broken storage boxes and that the contents of some boxes were thrown around. Two weeks after the move I found out that one of my sculptures had been broken, and covered so that I didn't see it right away.
The damage, only for the sculpture, was valued at around $325. I contacted Archie and he said he would pay the full amount.
Chantal, his partner, said, 'yeah, that guy breaks something on every job. We'll pay the damages'.
No payment was made. I contacted them repeatedly for a year and they did nothing. Finally after a year, they changed their mind and said they would take the damaged object to be repaired. I couldn't accept this. They have never resolved the problem.

On the day of the move, they refused to take a check and pressured to pay the full amount in cash. As I said, I was a repeat customer and had always paid.
I had requested a receipt for the moving expense and have never received it.

I'm extremely disappointed with what happened and the way I was treated after years of using their service. I can no longer recommend them.

Charged $1000 to move in the same neighborhood.

My father requested a service from this company to move our tenants' things to her apartment. The tenant moved less than 500 meters away. The movers needed two trips and after the first trip they disappeared for several hours only to arrive again at almost 7pm. We called to ask where they were and the owner changed the cost. I am really frustrated by this company's audacity to charge $1000 for two trips at 500 meters away. The entire move began at 11am and ended at 9:30pm. I really would not recommend this company to anyone because this was extortion. We will never be using the services from this company again and I will be sharing this experience with my circle in order to protect them from this.
